The first session of the Run on Less – Messy Middle Bootcamp focused on diesel drop-in
alternatives including ultra-low sulfur, biodiesel and renewable diesel. Colin Huwyler, CEO and
founder of Optimus Technologies; Scott Fenwick, Technical Director for Clean Fuels Alliance
America; and Jeff Seger, NACFE’s clean energy consultant, explained how to understand the
difference among biodiesel, renewable diesel and fossil diesel and provided information on
how fuel availability can impact decision making. Andrew Gibson, global sector marketing
manager fleet & global brand manager, Shell Rimula, Shell discussed lubricant’s role in fuel
economy.

session focuses on decarbonizing with natural gas. David King, on-highway natural gas engine
portfolio, Cummins; Matt Tomich, president, Energy Vision; Dan Deppeler, vice president of
maintenance, Paper Transport; and Marty Tufte, Corporate Fleet Director, WM, will help you
understand what the buzz about renewable natural gas is all about. You’ll learn about the
different natural gas blends and formulations, get information about the advances in natural
gas engine technology and what it means for efficiency, and hear about the future of traditional
and renewable natural gas sourcing. You’ll also hear how fleets are successfully deploying
natural gas-powered trucks in their operations.
